Probably a midshipman’s dirk, but maybe even a more senior officer’s circa 1800 fighting dirk; “fighting” courtesy of its extra long blade.
The 20 7/8 inch blade has some rust patches but not many and is overall good. Blade with some movement in hilt / grip (can be rectified by pushing snap off disposable blade segments between tang and hilt / grip (similar to how it was done in the day). Reeded marine ivory (walrus bone) grip has some age cracks but is good.
