This sword has been refurbished. It has a replacement grip and the broken bars of the inherently fragile brass hilt have been welded back (there is one bar missing also). These swords were renowned for their weak hilts, and it is very unlikely to find one that was active in the Napoleonic wars which is undamaged.

The 33 inch blade is in good condition, though has been “cleaned” so that much of the patina has been removed to show the raw steel. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt has repaired breaks and a back bar missing. The replacement leather grip and twisted grip wire bindings are good.
A good example of this highly collectible sword. A good investment at only was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AB74. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 0125-1.18 (2.53)
