Brass scabbard for a senior officer, e.g. a captain. Modified blade point, slightly shortened and formed to give it a better piercing point. 1822 Pattern due to folding guard section and pipe back blade. Early Victorian, 1837 to 1845 when the pattern was replaced with the 1845P (fullered blade).

The 31 3/4 inch blade is in aged but good condition, plenty of patina, firm in the hilt. The gilt brass “Gothic” hilt with folding guard section is aged but good, the folding guard still working. The fishskin grip is aged but good for 150+ years of age, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The brass scabbard has a few dings in it, especially around the chape, but is good. The sword sheathes and draws quite well.
Great looking sword with apparent active service history, yours for £400. Please quote item reference ZW65. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box?
