Regimentally blue etched (cavalry scenes to obverse), weapon number (5. 26 for weapon number 26 of 5th company) to the inside of the guard, no maker’s mark at the forte. Most likely a WW1 British war trophy.

The 31 3/4 inch blade is well etched but with some blue gone, and a few rust patches mostly towards the point. Blade firm in grip; the hilt a little loose on the blade. The folding guard section of the hilt works but does not stand firm. The grip with age / tarnish but good. The composite ribbed grip in good condition. The steel scabbard with age (tarnish and some inert surface rust) has lost its throat piece. The sword sheathes and draws well if a little loosely.
Nice example. Nice price: was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number W09. Further / full sized pictures available upon request. Box 1147-101x18x16 (1.822).
