The display box with plaque “Lt Col Jav De Candole MC Royal Brunei Malay Regiment April 1976 to April 1978”; Lieutenant Colonel John Alexander Vaughan de Candole. This Presentation Brunei / Malay / Philippine Punal Knife-Dagger is a quality item with hand forged blade and ivory type (lateral hairline age cracks imply ivory), historically described as bone (you make your own mind up), handle.
The 7 5/8 inch traditionally made / hand forged wavy blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass and bone / ivory handle is good; fine age cracks to the later. The brass, copper and steel sheet over wood sheath is in aged but very good condition. The punal knife / dagger sheathes and draws well. The wood and glazed presentation box is good (shipping note: we are confident but do not guarantee the integrity of the box when shipping overseas from the UK).
