Victorian / Edwardian, circa 1900. The Royal Company of Archers is the British monarch’s bodyguard in Scotland; read here. As is normal, there are no markings (e.g. maker / retailer) to the sword. This sword is a scarce curved, Roman Gladius style bladed version.
The 19 inch plain blade is in good condition, some age / wear, firm in the hilt. The gilt hilt and cross guard with integrated / one piece Royal Company of Archers grip and pommel is very good. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is aged, leather surface flaking, some tarnish and dings to the fittings; the sword sheathes and draws fairly tightly due to dry leather shrinkage.
