Solingen made, typical early 19C French etching but with both a hunting bear and army lances / drums images. Note: this Napoleonic French Army Officer’s Blue & Gilt Etched Hunting Sword and Scabbard once had a small companion knife (now absent – these do come up for sale periodically). Sword cutler’s details and “Solingen” etched to the forte but we can identify the cutler (etching too feint)..
The blue and gilt finely etched 22 inch blade is a little worn and faded but still superb / in good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt with deer antler / stag horn grip is all in very good condition. The leather with brass fittings scabbard is very good for its age (companion knife absent). The sword sheathes and draws well.
A spectacular Napoleonic French Army Officer’s Blue & Gilt Etched Hunting Sword with superb stag horn grip for just £950. Please quote item reference ZU49. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box?
