In good condition, a WW1 British 16th Lancers Cavalry Officer’s Patent Solid Hilt Wilkinson Sword

NB: This is a genuine Wilkinson Sword but the serial number on the blade’s spine has been filed off. It is an 1821 pattern guard, so dates from May 1910 (when George V became monarch) to 1912 (when the 1912 pattern superseded the 1821p). Etched to Wilkinson Sword and the Queens 16th Lancers to the blade. No officer’s name; it was purchased from an antiques shop during WW2 with no provenance.
The 34 3/4 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt is good (age and wear evident) but slightly bent inwards one side; a result of it pressing against the officer’s tunic / jacket / coat. The diagonally chequered composite grip is in very good condition, as are the associated twisted grip wite bindings. Remains of the sword knot strap in aged, dray and frail condition. The leather field service scabbard is aged and very worn but sound; it has a repaired break towards the drag. The sword sheathes and draws well.
