In good condition, a scarce Piedmontese / Italian 1843 Sidearm Sword

The Piedmontese Model 1843 is a sturdy, 19th-century infantry short sword or faschinenmesser used by the Kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont; see Armi bianche militari italiane (1814-1950) by Cesare Calamandrei. Page.48. This one is stamped at the forte to maker “S. A. Gnutti Lumezzane”. Often mistaken for a German faschinenmesser which it was almost certainly modelled on.
The 18 3/8 inch blade has a steady dark patina and some light pitting, but is generally good for its age plus firm in the hilt. The solid brass hilt / guard / grip is in aged and slightly worn condition but, again, generally good. Scabbard absent.
