Circa 1730 to 1750; an English / British naval officer’s shell guard cutlass.
The slightly shortened 22 inch blade has multiple deep “nicks” / gouges (a sure sign of combat), a rounded tip and a steady age patina, but is sound plus firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is aged but good. The wooden grip has worm holes and a dryness split, but is sound. No scabbard.
