Picquet / Levee (light weight) blade, finely etched with 60th Royal Rifle Corps, the officer’s initials (RHB), VR crown, etc. The 6oth Regiment of Foot saw service in British North America (now the USA) and formed the backbone for what became the Green Jackets. Circa 1895 (it has an 1892p blade), it should / might be possible to identify the officer “RHB”.
The 32 1/2 inch very well etched blade is in near new condition and firm in the hilt. The plated steel hilt / guard is very good (we have not checked under the tightly bound sword knot strap). The fishskin grip has age (fading) and wear; the twisted grip wire bindings have some surface layer loss in places. The sword knot is very good. The plated steel scabbard is good but has a ding (small dent) and age / wear. The sword sheathes and draws well.
