Etched to retailer “A S Goff & Co 17 & 18 King St Covent Garden” to the ricasso / forte. This Edwardian / WW1 Royal Naval officer’s sword is worthy of a home TLC enthusiast; e.g. the cloudiness on the brass, easily removed. No officer’s name to the folding guard section, so probably mid to late WW1 when time was of the essence in favour of such detail.
The 31 1/8 inch etched blade is good, some patina patches, firm in the hilt. The brass hilt is generally good; the folding guard section of the hilt works, but is very slightly bent out of place. The grip is generally good but the white fishskin has shrunk a tad from dryness resulting in a small gap between it and the backpiece on one side. The twisted grip wire bindings are good. Original sword knot with age and wear but still good. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is quite good but has multiple dings (small dents). The sword sheathes and draws well.
