Not a ceremonial sword! The traditionally forged blade is likely made from wootz steel, such is the pattern of the patina, plus it has a few small period nicks. These serpentine bladed tulwars are very scarce, especially combat versions such as this one. It would have been carried by a foot soldier for close quarters fighting.
The 28 inch very well made blade is in aged but good condition and firm in the hilt. The thick steel hilt / guard, a testiment to its combat purpose, and grip are also in good condition. Scabbard absent.
A superb scarce serpentine blade tulwar for a really good price, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote reference number ZV40. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2261 87 x 13 x 13 (1.438).
