VGC = Very Good Condition. The blade and scabbard with the George Family Cost of Arms / Crest. The inner brass presentation box plate engraved “Presented to: J. C. G. George, by Wilkinson Sword Limited as a token of Appreciation and Gratitude, January 1972”. Read about John Charles Grossmith George here. Bought from his family.
The well etched 10 3/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard also in VGC, as are the wooden grip “scales”. The velvet and gilt brass scabbard is good but has some tarnish. The sword sheathes and draws well. The wooden presentation box is aged and worn but good; closes / opens well.
