With so called “cigar band” silver metal aspect to the fluted ivory grip. NB This sword may have had a diagonal cross guard at some point; there is a small “bump” on the knuckle bow to indicate this (some officers were known to do this as the section could impede use and rub against knuckles). Circa 1785-1790. “J J Runkel Solingen” engraved to the spine of the blade.
Ivory permit / registration ref: GAEF9MNX – this allows us to legally sell it.

The 32 1/4 inch blade has traces of feint / worn etching and some patina and even some old small nicks, but is generally good plus firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard is in good shape. The fluted ovory grip has a pleasing age related cream colour and is good, well above average for its age. Scabbard absent.
