In aged / good condition, a Klingenthal made Waterloo era French Heavy Cavalry Trooper’s Sword

Likely a 9th French Cuirassier Regiments trooper’s sword.
Dated March 1815 and marked to state maker “Klingenthal” on the blade’s spine; correct Poinçons for Borson, Bick and Lobstein. This is a guaranteed authentic Napoleonic An XIII French heavy cavalry sword; be careful, many reproductions exist wrongly sold as genuine (these typically have physical mistakes, e.g. only 2 Poinçons).
The blade of this Waterloo era (it was made just 3 months prior to the Battle of Waterloo) has a regimental rack number “101” plus a “9” in a different font; likely to signify that the sword was used by the 9th Cuirassier Regiment which suffered heavy losses at Waterloo, which would explain how it came into British hands (being dropped in a failed charge against a B|ritish infantyr “square” formation); the blade’s patina indicates it has not been in a scabbard for many years. The point has been correctly moditifed from hatchet to spear point, which first happened (to improve piercing ability) just before Waterloo.
The 37 3/4 inch blade has age (a steady patina) and some wear, firm in the hilt. The heavy brass guard / hilt is in good shape, a steady light patina. The original leather grip is in good condition but has lost its twisted grip wire bindings (quite common). Scabbard absent.
