In overall very good condition, a rare 1822P British Infantry General’s Sword

Super rare, a general staff officer’s sword (see the crossed sword and batten badge to the hilt’s / guard’s cartouche and the same again to both sides of the blade), and with its original sword knot (in good condition). Apart from the small rust patches to the pipe back quill point blade, this very early Victorian sword is in incredibly good condition. And listen, the rust patches are likely shallow enough to bear removal to potentially make this a museum grade example. It is an earliest 1822 pattern courtesy of the pipe back blade and folding guard section of the so called “Gothic” hilt.
The 32 1/2 inch blade with general’s crossed sword and batten tablet etching in very good except for the rust to some edges areas, firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt is in very good condition, the folding guard section works well. The superb black fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are practically in as new condition (yes, they are original). The original VR early 19th Century sword knot is in incredibly good condition; some age but not much for a sword just under 200 years old. The leather and gilt brass scabbard is remarkably good for its age. The sword sheathes and draws well but is tight when nearly fully sheathed.
