Listen! Most if not all of the so-called Russian 1806/1810 model cuirassier swords you see offered are actually Prussian 1819m swords; the Prussians copied the Russian sword, but not 100%. Prussian swords have distinctive wider single fuller or French capture / style twin fuller blades with flat back edges / spines.

This is a super rare actual Russian 1806/1810 model cuirassier officer’s palasche. The straight grip is 1806m, the sword originally had a flat 1806m blade but was then given / updated with a 2.5/3 fuller 1810m blade (more than suggesting the officer was an active duty officer). The blade is very much slimmer than the later Prussian swords and has a rounded back edge / spine. The sword has the straight 1806m grip; the 1810m adopted a sloped (towards the pommel) grip. There are no markings to be seen on the blade; they have been aged / cleaned off. But this is 100% an authentic Russian 1806/1810m and likely saw service against Napoleon’s Imperial Grand Army when the French invaded Russia in 1812.

This sword likely helped push Napoleon out of Russia in 1812. The grip is original so you can hold what the Russian heavy cavalry officer once did.

Look. Prussian 1819m swords (often falsely stated to be Russian 1806/1810m’s) sell for well over £1000 (+ auction buyer’s premium) at auction, so even the post-Napoleonic Prussian “copies” are rare / valuable enough. So how much is this true Russian 1806/1810 model cuirassier officer’s palasche being sold for? See further below!

The 34 1/4 inch 2.5/3 fullered hatchet point blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt has a little distortion / wear from active service but is still good. The fishskin grip (for an officer) is faded and worn in places but good, as are the grip wire bindings. The steel scabbard has many dings / dents but is sound. The sword sheathes and draws loosely.

This is such a very rare sword. We can find no other authentic examples by which to accurately value it. But we are very sure that at was £? (too late, now sold), we have seriously under priced it; grab it quick, you will never find another on sale. Please quote item reference Z53. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1575-golf (1.753).
