Wilkinson Sword Victorian Black Watch Officer's
/ Piper's Dirk, Sold |
In very good overall condition, a super rare Wilkinson Sword made
Victorian Black Watch Officer's / Piper's Dirk. This is one of two
near identical Royal Highlander officer / piper's dirks we got from
the same collector, the
other is here.

A "Mk 1" dirk is simply those that have the serrated
/ sawback back edge to the blade and fully etched blades including
regimental badges. Being Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), these
also have battle honours. With the Victorian crown to the pommel
and battle honours up to nut not including the South African Boer
War, this dirk likely accompany the pipes for the Royal Highlanders
during that infamous war.

The superbly grey etched 12 inch blade has some age / wear and a
spot of patina, but otherwise is in great condition and firm in
the hilt. The hilt / grip with all its studs is very good. The sheath
/ scabbard is aged but very good, and the dirk sheathes and draws
well.
A must for any serious Scottish dirk collector; get it quick as
these truly do not come onto the market very often. Under priced
at just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
U83 (0926). Further / full sized images available upon request.
