1857P Victorian British Royal Engineers Senior
Officer's Sword, sold |
In good to very good condition, a superb 1857 Pattern Victorian
British Royal Engineers Senior Officer's Sword.

The brass, rather than steel scabbard, shows this sword belonged
a senior officer in the Royal Engineers. The ricasso etched to retailer
"E. Adams, Outfitter, Plymouth".

The 32 1/4 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The brass hilt in very good shape, very little wear or bending,
a little bowing of the back piece over the grip but not a lot. The
black fishskin grip is very good. The twisted brass grip wire bindings
have a few bits missing, but these frail brass bindings are so prone
to that. The superb brass scabbard has a ding or two near the chape
but is otherwise very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A scarce sword and probably the most attractive ever British sword.
A bargain at just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item
