Tatham Napoleonic British Infantry Flank
Officer's Sabre / Sword, Sold |
In good condition, an 1800-1801 Tatham Napoleonic British Infantry
Flank Officer's Sabre / Sword.

Engraved "Tatham to His Majesty. 37 Charing Cross Near The
Admiralty", dating the sword from 1800 to 1801. Flank officers
much preferred these shorter sabres to slice the enemy at close
quarters if they got close enough to make pistol use slow and difficult.

The 26 3/8 inch blade is in good condition but the etching is now
gone or very feint at best, replaced by a steady patina. Blade firm
in the hilt. The hilt / guard good but aged. The fishsksin grip
and associated twisted grip wire bindings in very good condition.
The leather and brass scabbard amazingly good for its age, some
leather dry cracking but well above average. The sabre sheathes
and draws well.
Tatham sword cutler to King George III. Superb deal, price just
£? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number
W74 (1192). Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
