British Victorian HM Coast Guard Brass Grip
Cutlass, for sale |
In very good condition, a British Victorian HM Coast Guard Brass
Grip Cutlass.

With a Bow London Small Arms factory view (inspection) mark (crown
over x over 6) to the forte, this sword is post 1866. The inspection
/ view mark means this sword was sold to the War Office which included
the Admiralty who HM Coast Guard was transferred to in the 1850's;
the view mark means this is not a police or customs sword.

The 27 inch blade is in very good condition, only a couple of small
rust patches, and firm in the hilt. The brass grip and hilt / guard
with some tarnish etc. but overall very good. The leather and brass
fittings scabbard is in good condition though the top fitting is
loose (can be re-glued). The locking pin mechanism works well. The
sword sheathes and draws well.
A well above average example of a pretty rare sword. A snip at
just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
number W07 (1123). Further / full sized pictures available upon
request.
