Victorian British HM Coast Guard Brass Grip
Officer's Cutlass, sold |
In very good condition, a Victorian British HM Coast Guard Brass
Grip Officer's Cutlass.

With a Bow London Small Arms factory view (inspection) mark (crown
over x over 6) to the forte, this sword is post 1866. The inspection
/ view mark means this sword was sold to the War Office which included
the Admiralty who HM Coast Guard was transferred to in the 1850's;
the view mark means this is not a police or customs sword.

The 27 inch blade is in excellent condition and firm in the hilt.
The brass grip and hilt / guard with some tarnish etc. but overall
very good. The leather and brass fittings scabbard is in good condition.
The locking pin mechanism works well. The sword sheathes and draws
well.
A well above average example of a pretty rare sword. A snip at
just £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
number W06 (1121). Further / full sized pictures available upon
request.
