British ERII Royal Marines Officer's Wilkinson
Sword, SOLD |
In very good / parade ground condition, a British ERII Royal Marines
Officer's Wilkinson Sword.

This sword would probably pass any inspection as is, and would
likely appear brand new with a little time and Simichrome metal
finishing polish to the hilt. Serial number 107788 for 1977. Engraved
to the blade naming lozenge "Lt F W Cumming. Comm. December
1977". Lt Cumming went on to be a Major in 1985; He joined
the RMVFR in 1954, the regular corps in April 1956 and passed out
as a Marine in August of that year. If desired, his name could be
removed by clouded engraving of the lozenge. Suitable for a collector
or, indeed, a serving Royal Marine officer.

The 32 51/6 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The hilt / guard very good, a little milky tarnish (would
remove with Simichrome), but not too much. Grip / grip wire in very
good condition. The leather field service scabbard good, a little
age and cracking to the frog suspension loop. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
A very nice genuine Wilkinson Sword for only £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference V42 (0981). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
