Napoleonic British Infantry Flank Officer's
Blue & Gilt Sword, sold |
In very good condition, a Napoleonic British Infantry Flank Officer's
Blue & Gilt Sabre / Sword.

Period sharpened for field use, most of the blue and gilt etching
remaining. Flank officers had their own pattern of sword; shorter
for close combat use after the shot (bullets) were gone. No maker's
name to the blade, just "warranted", so probably sold
by a retailer (tailor, outfitter, etc.).

The 26 3/8 inch blade in very good condition, only a tiny bit loose
in the hilt. The hilt in good condition, as is the original leather
grip and silver metal grip bindings. Steel scabbard in good condition;
the sword sheathes and draws well.
This is a field weapon in very good condition for its age, with
much blue and gilt etching remaining. These do not come by / available
often and £? (too late, now sold) is a very good price indeed.
Please quote item reference number V08 (0953). Further / full sized
