C1680 English Infantry Officer's Smallsword
with Passau Wolf, sold |
In sound condition, a circa 1680 English Infantry Officer's Smallsword
with Passau Wolf.

The Passau wolf to the blade means a fighting blade. In addition,
there is a partially legible inscription to the blade, which can
be seen as "Domina". The scabbard may not be original
but appears true to era.

The 38 3/4 inch blade is sound but aged and worn with some rust
spots; it may well be an earlier possibly 16C blade going by what
you can see of the Passau wolf design. Blade with a small amount
of movement in the hilt. The brass hilt overall good for age. The
wood grip is more loose but sound. The wood and brass fittings scabbard
in sound order. The sword sheathes and draws well if a little loosely.
A very nice example of a rare sword. It can be yours for £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number AF39 (1096).
