Victorian Lothians Berwickshire Yeomanry
Presentation Sword, Sold |
In good condition, a Victorian Lothians & Berwickshire Yeomanry
Presentation Sword to J H Wright, an interesting and important officer.

Rather than tell you about John Henderson Wright here, you are
probably better off if you just read
about him here. This Thurkle made sword was presented to him
by Colonel Sir William Baillie Hamilton, KCMG, CB for being the
best swordsman in 1897.

The 33 3/4 inch blade has patina patches throughout, more one side
than the other, but etching still clear and firm in the hilt. The
hilt / guard is very sound (to good) but has suffered a light rusting.
The grip is good, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The leather
scabbard has some wear and a small thin surface possibly deeper
split, the metal sections with some surface corrosion, but is sound
to good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A good scarce sword once owned by a really interesting officer
and can be yours for only £? (too late, now sold). Please
quote item reference number AE81 (1020). Further / full sized pictures
available upon request.
