US War of 1812 Eagle's Head Naval Officer's
Sword / Sabre, sold |
In good condition, a US War of 1812 Eagle's Head Naval Officer's
Sword / Sabre, probably a British capture.

Sword came from a deceased's attic in the UK, so likely has been
around long enough to be a British capture from the conflict / War
of 1812 with the United States.

The 27 1/2 inch blade has a steady patina throughout; there is
just a tiny amount of very feint prior etching on one side (too
feint to photo). THe blade, hilt and grip all have some movement
but not a great amount. The back piece and grip have a gap unless
squeezed. The hilt other wise is very good with all important fouled
anchor langets and eagle head pommel. The horn grip is exquisitely
well formed with only tiny losses.
One of the few battle trophies ever taken off the US Navy; yours
for £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AE80
(1009). Further / full sized images available upon request.
