Austrian 1827/37 Model Light Cavalry Officer's
Sabre, Sold |
In good condition, a rare Austrian 1827/37 Model Light Cavalry
(Hussars / Ulans) Officer's Saber With Folding Guard.

This is a rare sword / sabre and awesome with it. The highly curved
blade is perfect for cut (slicing up an opponent), the folding guard
providing more protection for the hand than the stirrup hilt sabers
before it, yet folding in for normal sheathed wear.

The 33 1/4 inch blade in very good condition except for a couple
of small nicks along the cutting edge, and firm in the hilt. The
folding guard hilt in good condition, the spring retainer for an
opened guard perhaps a little weak from age. The grip in good order,
a couple of small chunks missing. The steel scabbard is sound, a
couple of minor dings, no mouth piece apparent. The saber sheathes
and draws well.
A really well made fighting sabre and exceptionally rare. Truly,
a great investment for £1000. Please quote reference AE57
(0944). Further / full sized images available upon request.
