1822P Victorian British Infantry Senior Officers
Pipe Back Sword, sold |
In very good condition for its age, a 1822P Victorian British
Infantry Senior Officers Pipe Back Sword.

The etching is feint from age, so the maker's / retailer's name
while (just) still there, is illegible.

The 32 1/8 inch pipe back slender dress weight blade with feint
tablet etching is firm in the hilt. The brass hilt has some deformation,
which is common, but is overall good. much gilt remaining, the folding
guard section still working. The fish skin grip is good except for
a tiny nibble / scrape. The twisted grip wire bindings are very
good. The brass scabbard (for a senior officers) has a couple of
minor dings and scratches and some discoloration but is overall
good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
We wonder who the officer was. This is a lovely sword in well above
average condition. Grab it quick; £? (too late, now sold).
