French WW1 1845M Infantry Adjutant's Sword,
Chatellerault, Sold |
In good condition, a French WW1 1845M Infantry Adjutant's Sword,
Chatellerault 1913

With matching serial numbers (39000) to the hilt and scabbard,
with the maker's inscription for April 1913, this sword almost certainly
saw a long active service during World War One.

The plain 30 3/8 inch twin fullered blade is in good condition
and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard in good shape, some age /
tarnish but not much. The spiral grooved walnut grip is good but
with some fading / wear, but has lost most of its twisted grip wire,
which is common and tends to indicate the sword has been held firm
several times. The steel scabbard is good but has a ding and been
cleaned of most of its camouflage browning. The sword sheathes and
draws well.
Nice sword, nice price; £? (too late. now sold). Please quote
item reference U29 (0858). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
