Victorian British 1897P Royal Engineers Officers
Sword by Pillin, Sold |
In overall very good condition (some fishskin grip loss), a Victorian
British 1897P Royal Engineers Officers Sword by Pillin.

A high quality sword bearing the owner's / officer's family crest,
made by one the very best makers, Pillin.

The 32 1/4 inch supremely well etched blade is in very good condition
(some small patina patches mostly away from the etching) considering
its age, and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt is very good, some
light pitting spots, some patina. The grip with wear, age and a
small area of fishskin one side under the pommel missing, but otherwise
good. The twisted grip wire all good. The lovely Victorian leather
and steel fittings scabbard with age but still good. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
They don't and can't make them like this any more. Yours for only
£? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference U11 (0843).
