1845 Pattern Austrian Cavalry Officer's Sword,
P Knecht Solingen, Sold |
In overall good condition, a scarce 1845 Pattern Austrian Cavalry
Officer's Sword, P Knecht Solingen.

Marked "Wien" (Vienna) and "Solingen" to one
side, "P Knecht" and what appears to be "L Pospischil"
in script to the other (we think L Pospischil must be the name of
the officer). This brute of a sword / sabre is clearly based directly
upon the British 1821 pattern heavy cavalry officer's sword.

The awesome 34 1/2 inch blade is in good condition with the etching
still visible and firm in the hilt. The superb guard / hilt is in
very good condition, some patina. The fishskin grip is good though
the twisted grip wire bindings are gone.
This sword will really impress you, and can be yours for only £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference T85 (0795). Further
/ full sized images available upon request.
