WW1 French 1845 Model Infantry officer's
Sword, Feb 1916, Sold |
In very good condition, a WW1 French 1845 Model Infantry officer's
Sword, Chatellerault Feb 1916, matching serial numbers.

Inscribed "Manufacture nationale d'armes de Chatellerault
Fevrier 1916" to the blade's spine (plus the Model details),
this sword appears never to have been issued / sold to an officer
as it is in pristine condition (well, infantry swords did not figure
at all highly in combat during WW1). The sword and scabbard have
matching serial numbers (59426).

The 30 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the
hilt. The hilt / guard is also very good. The polished wood grip
is very good, very little in the wy of marks. The fine twisted grip
wire is also very good. The heavy steel scabbard is very good. The
sword sheathes and draws well.
Exceptional, well above average. Yours for £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference T79 (0798). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
