WW1 British Rifle Brigade Officers Wilkinson
Sword, Sold |
In overall good to very good condition, a WW1 British Rifle Brigade
Officers Wilkinson Sword, Major B M Curwen.

This is one of two swords we bought from the Curwen family, the
other sword, of Lieut C N Curwen (KIA 1916), can
be found here. Brian Murray Curwen, the second / youngest son
of Thomas
Cecil and Margaret Curwen, unlike his brother, survived World
War One and made the rank of major. Serial number 48151 for 1914.
We found very little information for Major Curwen; more research
needed.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is very good condition and firm in the hilt.
The hilt with age / tarnish but good. The grip is good but aged,
the grip wire bindings with tarnish and some lesser strands are
either loose or missing. The original black rifles sword knot is
aged with leather surface losses. The field service scabbard and
belts are good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A super sword, especially the blade, and plenty of research opportunity.
Easily worth £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference
