19th / 20th Century Arab Slave Trader's Shamshir,
sold |
In overall good condition, a 19th / 20th Century Arab Slave Trader's
Shamshir, the former property of The Admiral of The Fleet, Lord
Roger John Brownlow Keyes, First Baron Keyes GCB. KCVD. CMG. DSO.
Lord Keyes of Zebrugge and Dover.

This sword was taken as a trophy by Lieutenant Roger John Brownlow
Keyes when he served in a corvette operating from Zanzibar on slavery
suppression missions. It is not a quality piece, but a real and
evocative one. And yes, we have firm written provenance attesting
to it being the property of Lord Keyes.

The 30 inch blade has some nicks but is in overall good condition
and firm in the hilt. The hilt / grip with lots of wear and some
damage. The wood and metal fittings scabbard is aged and worn. The
sword sheathes and draws well.
A great piece, a slave trader's sword and one taken / owned by
the British Admiral of the Fleet! You will never find another at
any price, so grab it quick; £? (too late, now sold). Please
