In overall good condition (the blade exceptionally good), a WW1
/ George V British Rifle Regiment Officer's Sword by Flights of
Winchester (Wilkinson made).
 

Ricasso etched to "F W Flights High Street Winchester"
who used that trading style until 1919. Flights swords were made
by Wilkinson, and the quality shows. Serial number to the spine
is 4552.


The 32 1/2 inch blade is in exceptionally good condition and firm
in the hilt (sharpened towards the point, so some sharpening scuffing
there). The plated steel hilt and scabbard have equally aged (inert
rust / patina patches), but are sound. The fishskin grip and associated
grip wire bindings are good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
This sword is crying out for refurbishment (to have the hilt and
scabbard replated) to get a superb sword. Go on, you know you should:
