1909M WW1 Turkish / Ottoman Army Officers Short Sword, Sold

A rare 1909M WW1 Turkish / Ottoman Army Officers Short Sword.

Wrongly described as a "WW1 C1915 Turkish Army Non Commissioned Officer's Sword" elsewhere, this is in fact a rare 1909M Turkish / Ottoman Army Officers Short Sword. The inscription to the blade is part Turkish, part Arabic, and translates as "Allah (God) is with us". Almost certainly a war trophy taken from a captured / fallen Turkish officer given the scabbard has its original frog strap with it.

The 15 7/8 inch blade is in good condition, some blackening near the point but nor much, firm in the hilt. The hilt in good order. The wood grip very good, some small dents / scrapes here and there. The steel scabbard has it soriginal black paint and is in very good condition. The frog and strap aged but sound / good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
