George V / WW1 London Irish Rifles Officers
Sword, Sold |
A scarce George V / WW1 London Irish Rifles Officers Sword.

The London Irish Rifles were a distinguished regiment made famous
by their football team captain (Rifleman Frank Edwards) kicking
the ball in no mans land as they charged the German line.

The 32 1/4 inch blade is good but the etching feint, some light
rust / patina patches, firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard mostly
good but aged with some scratches / rust spots inside the hilt.
Grip mostly very good. The leather field scabbard is aged. The sword
sheathes and draws well.
Not many of these around, to be sure! A great price, just £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference R55 (0528). Further
/ full sized images available upon request. Box 0528-1.18 (1.920).
