WW2 Short 1907P Indian GRI SMLE Bayonet No.1
Mk 2 RFI, Sold |
In good condition, a WW2 Short 1907P Indian GRI (Georgus Rex Imperatus)
SMLE (Short Magazine Lee-Enfield) Bayonet No.1 Mk 2 RFI (Rifle Factory
Ishapore), dated July 1943.
This is a short version of the British Pattern 1907, manufactured
to fit the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield No.1 series Infantry Rifles
used during WWII. It retains the British GRI Crown, so it was not
in service with the Indian army post independence. All good but
worn and aged. Grip with some small dents / nicks, period sharpened
12 inch blade with a small nick. Sheath overall good but some age.
Bayonet sheathes and draws well.
Quite likely saw action in Burma and eventually Malaysia against
the Japanese in WW2. Nice price; £? (too late, now sold).
