1885P Victorian Fifeshire Light Horse Volunteers
Trooper's Sword, Sold |
In good condition, an 1885P Victorian Fifeshire Light Horse Volunteers
Trooper's Sword.

The sword (made by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie Solingen, as
many were) is a marriage with (not original to) the scabbard (made
by Mole). Reserve / volunteer regiments would often get such stores
items; the important part are the markings to the scabbard, just
visible, "V" (volunteer) over "F E L" (Fife
Light) over "135" (weapon number).

The 32 1/3 inch blade is in very good condition except for some
rust where it meets the hilt / guard, firm in the hilt. The hilt
/ guard with age / light rust / tarnish but sound. The grip aged
but good. The scabbard with age but very sound. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
Good example, nice price; £? (too late, now sold)! Please
quote item reference Q49 (0377). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
