WW1 / George V British Royal Artillery Officer's
Sword, Sold |
In very good condition for its age, a WW1 / George V British Royal
Artillery Officer's Sword.

No maker's / retailer's name to the ricasso, so most likely circa
1917, this sword was almost certainly made in Sheffield; the etching
is both very pronounced and quite different to London based makers.

The 34 5/8 inch blade is in very good condition, the fine / highly
defined etching in very good order, blade firm in hilt. The hilt
/ guard with some age / small plate loss patches. The faux fishskin
grip good though a little worn and aged; the grip wires good, some
lesser strands a little astray (not by much). The leather field
service scabbard with some scuffs and age, bit overall good. The
sword sheathes and draws well.
This is a very nicely etched sword in well above average condition.
