This post 1941 Seki stamped showato shin gunto clearly has period wear to the leather covered saya (scabbard).

The 24 3/4 inch Nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is in good overall condition but has been cleaned of its etched hamon, plus has a couple of nicks / scrapes, but nothing to detract that much. The furniture is overall good, with a nice full set of number 7 seppa (washers). The saya / scabbard is plain wood (not metal) with leather covering, which is aged / worn and kinking in one area, but sound. The sword sheathes and draws well, the locking pin mechanism works well.

This gunto shows it had an arduous service. Yours for £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Q05 (0309). Further / full sized images available upon request.
