1892 Pattern British Infantry Officer's Sword,
sold |
In good condition, a scarce 1892 Pattern British infantry officer's
sword by Edward Thurkle.

A scarce sword as most had their blades re-hilted into the 1895P/1897P,
the 1892 pattern is a late variation of the 1854 pattern gothic
hilt infantry officer's sword with the 1892 introduced "dumb
bell" blade.

The 32 3/4 inch blade is in good condition, the etching still clear,
firm in the hilt, but with plenty of patina. The brass gothic hilt
has lost most of its gilt but is in very good condition. The fishskin
grip also very good, plus the twisted grip wire binding in good
order too. Original white leather sword knot a little grubby, but
sound. The steel scabbard has some patina but is overall good. The
sword sheathes and draws a little loosely, so some of the interior
wooden slatting is gone.
A scarce sword and well above average. Nice price, was £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference P42 (0216).
