19th / 20th Century Algerian Flyssa, Sold |
In overall good condition, a good 19th / 20th Century Algerian
Flyssa.

Virtually every flyssa was made in Algeria, but used throughout
North Africa. This is a nice example, not least as it comes with
its original sheath / scabbard, which is rare due to the fragility
of the same.

The 20 1/2 inch blade is generally very good but with some patina
here and there. Blade firm in the hilt / grip. The head / pommel
has damage and a glue repair, but is quite good. The wooden scabbard
is actually very good for its age, but has a few worm holes and
the two halves have some separation. The sword sheathes and draws
well.
What a great example and just £? (too late, now sold)! Please
quote item reference P33 (0257). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
