WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Sword (Shin Gunto
Katana), Sold |
In good condition, a Showato WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Sword
(Shin Gunto Katana).

There is no Seki / Showa stamp on the tang, but this is Showato
(mass produced milled steel blade). The tang is signed, but badly;
you be the judge of the name given. Blade dated 1944.

The 26 inch Nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is overall in very
good condition, but has some small rust pitting one side and a small
chip to the cutting edge near the tip. Everything else is good,
though a tiny piece of rayskin is missing, and the original green
scabbard / saya paint has been cleaned away in a couple of place.
The sword sheathes and draws well, and the locking mechanism works.
A very nice example at a low price. Yours for £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference P17 (0199). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
