1786 Pattern British Infantry Officers Blue
& Gilt Etched Sword, Sold
A very good 1786 Pattern British Infantry Officers Blue &
Gilt Etched Sword, in well above average condition.
The blade has the pre-1801 British Royal Coat of Arms with the
three fleur de lis and etched "For My Country & King"
etched to the centre of each side of the blade. It is a 1786 pattern
due to the fact is has a solid (non-folding) guard.
The 32 1/4 inch blade is in good condition (a little wiggle near
the point), some rust / patina patches towards the point, the blue
and gilt still good and clear. The blade with some movement in the
hilt (normal). The hilt overall good but the small langet has come
off. The silver metal wire grip is complete and mostly good.
A very nice sword with unusual quadraform blade. Yours for £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference P14 (0200). Further
/ full sized images available upon request.
