19/20C Sumatran Keris / Kris Palembang, Silver hilt, Sold

A rare and good 19th / 20th Century Sumatran Keris / Kris Palembang, with Silver (tested positive) banded hilt, in very good condition.

The sheath (Sarung / Warangka) bands tested positive for silver (see image of red silver acid test further down). Clearly, this is a very good Keris / Kris Palembang, almost certainly Sumatran though possibly Malay.

The straight 16 1/4 inch blade has a superb Tiban pamor. The fine dolphin / bird's beak carved Ukiran / Hulu hilt is in good condition, though some aging and wear evident. The sheath with some knocks and also tarnish to the silver bands (we estimate these are 70% to 80% silver).
