1821P British Montgomery Yeomanry Cavalry
Officer's, sold |
A very good 1821P Victorian British light cavalry officer's sword
for the Montgomery Yeomanry, circa 1855, in very good condition.

Marked "Blackmore" (outfitters) to the blade in a typically
circa 1855 tablet form, Blackmore traded under his own name from
1848 to 1872. This is a particularly impressive sabre as it is not
only very well etched, but also quite a bit longer than normal.

The impressive 35 1/8 inch blade is very well etched and in very
good condition, and firm in the hilt. The hilt has been chemically
period camouflage browned. The grip with age but in very good condition
considering, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The browned
steel scabbard is in good order but has a kink just below the lower
suspension mount. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A well above average example and regimentally etched to the Montgomery
Yeomanry; a sound investment at only £xxx (too late - now
sold - but we will divulge the original sales price for a small
fee). Please quote item reference O37 (1361). Further / full sized
photos available upon request.
