1908P WW1 Enflield Made British Cavalry Trooper's
Sword, sold |
In good overall condition, a 1915 dated 1908 pattern British cavalry
trooper's sword, still in service in 1932.

The original date stamp on the blade is '15 for 1915, but there
is an inspection mark also for '32, so this sword stayed in service
with the British army for some time, which is rare because horses
were used less and less after WW1 of course. The blade has the Enflield
"EFD" stamp on one side.
The 34 5/8 inch blade is in good condition, some black patina streaks
exist but not many / much. Some of the inspection marks are feint
now, but the blade is firm in the hilt. The hilt has been bright
cleaned, probably as a parade sword, but the remains of the brown
khaki camouflage paint remains inside the bowl guard. The guard
with wear and rust spots to the edges. The grip in good though a
little worn condition. The steel scabbard in good shape. The sword
sheathes and draws well.
A nice example and at a reasonable price, just £xxx (too
late, now sold - original sales price divulged for small fee). Please
quote item reference number N71 (1138). Further / full sized images
upon request.
